About H.I.S. Foam continued...

One aspect is, of course, the way a home is insulated. A home that is insulated poorly will lead to large utility bills, mold and mildew problems and a dissatisfied home owner. That is what brought him to discover new ways to insulate a home and what led him to spray foam insulation and the formation of the company H.I.S. Foam.
Company after company had been hired to use this new technology in his own home building process because of the mold issues that were being found and the new codes that the state was putting into place to prevent mold issues. The product was wonderful, it created sound barriers that were remarkable, the framing was more secure, the mold was no longer even a thought and the energy savings were amazing. They found, however, the current companies around the area lacked expertise and the proper equipment…offering the contractor or homeowner only one choice of spray foam product. Consistent with the high standards of his home construction business, nothing but exceptional was going to be accepted. Today that is just what Denny Savick, sales & marketing director of H.I.S. Foam provides.

From bid information to the actual installation, staff at H.I.S Foam does an exceptional job. Chuck Kilmer, with many years experience in home construction himself, runs the operations side of the business. “Spray Foam Insulation is all we do & we do it well”, Kilmer states. Since today's foam is better and more efficient than foams of the past, it is important that the staff is ready to educate their customers on the benefits they will see from day one. The installation must be done in a timely manner to make sure no building project is held up. They respect the schedule of each and every home builder they work with as they have been in their shoes before. Clients, from home owners to home builders, can expect the best from H.I.S Foam.
In the past, the most common insulation method was to use fiberglass insulation batts, which are placed between the studs. Although this is an acceptable method, it does not create an airtight seal, so heat escapes. By using the better practice of spray foam insulation in walls and attics, one can create a better air-tight envelope. This gives a huge advantage over common fiberglass batt insulation in both efficiency and cost.
Heat flows in one direction, from a warm space to a cold one. For example, warm air inside a home will flow to the cooler air outside during winter months and the warm summer air moves in toward the homes’ conditioned air. This causes condensation to form on the inside of your walls; unseen mold and mildew can cause very expensive home repairs.

The best practice for insulating and eliminating the mold and mildew issues is to use spray foam insulation. It expands to about 120 times its original volume, so it fills in air gaps unlike standard fiberglass insulation. Unlike traditional insulating materials like fiberglass or cellulose, spray foam insulation can seal and fill all the tiny cracks and seams that the builder might not even see. The seamless material virtually eliminates energy-wasting air filtration. In addition, spray foam insulation has the highest R-value for any given thickness compared to other insulation products. Over time, as the house expands and contracts, so will the foam insulation.

There are so many benefits of spray foam insulation. It can save on framing costs, as well as extended life of window and door jambs. The simple change to spray foam insulation helps control moisture condensation, it won’t shrink or settle, and it’s completely resistant to mold formation. Another benefit is that it can destroy mold that has already formed in a home by cutting off the air supply to the mold problem. “I was recently in an $800,000 dollar home that was about two years old. Within five minutes I had found mold because it was traditionally insulated with fiberglass. That won’t happen with spray foam insulation because it cuts off the air supply.” shares Denny Savick of H.I.S Foam. "Foam does not sustain mold. There is nothing in it that can support the growth of mold in a home. Today’s design and engineering of spray foam products is so far superior to traditional methods that we truly believe that Spray Foam Insulation will soon become the standard in the industry”, Savick adds.
The initial cost of using spray foam insulation runs a bit more than traditional materials, but keep in mind that the increase in R-value and air sealing will lower utility bills by about 30 percent. It will pay back the cost difference in energy savings in about three to five years, making the product well worth the initial increase in costs. Studies have shown that while a mortgage may increase by a couple dollars each month from using spray foam, the homes energy bills are cut by an average of 30 percent each month, easily making up the difference. “Heating costs are never going to go down,” says Denny Savick “so you have to find other ways to reduce energy costs.” Plus there are many, many different types of spray foam that H.I.S offers because there are many different needs and budgets of home owners and builders. Using spray foam can really be tailored to each individual project.

H.I.S Foam was created because of the obvious benefits of the product and because, at the time, and still today, there is no other company in the area focusing only on professional and exceptional installation of Spray Foam Insulation. There was a need so the company was born. H.I.S Foam has done numerous projects in the area from commercial, to new home construction, to remodeling projects. This local company can create the perfect insulation system for any project and because of their background in the home building industry they understand how a home should be built and can see and solve any issues that other insulators may not.
